Boao Forum for Asia hosted “Phnom Penh Conference of Boao Forum for Asia” in Phnom Penh, the Capital of Cambodia, on September 26 this year, followed by “Vientiane Conference of Boao Forum for Asia in Vientiane, the Capital of Laos on September 28. This is the first time for Boao Forum for Asia to hold conferences in Cambodia and Laos since its establishment 17 years ago. President Li Yong, as the guest, was invited to attend above two conferences and delivered a speech. At the same time, he had candid exchanges with government officials and entrepreneurs of Cambodia and Laos and reached some cooperation intention.

With the theme of “Seeking Development and Win-Win”, two conferences will focus on pragmatic cooperation of economy and trade between China and Cambodia and between China and Laos, with the help of Boao Forum for Asia in the new era. Li Baodong, Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia, led a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs to Cambodia and Laos to discuss with local people of business circle the important opportunities brought about by the synergy between “Belt and Road” international cooperation and the development strategies of the two countries, who also recommended Boao Forum for Asia to political and business circles of both countries. This year coincides with the 15thanniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAEN strategic partnership, it is believed that Phnom Penh Conference and Vientiane Conference of Boao Forum for Asiawill contribute to the upgrading of economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAEN and the convergence of the two major economies in the development direction.

DuringPhnom Penh Conference of Boao Forum for Asia, President Li Yong had cordial and friendly exchanges with politicians such as former Thai prime minister Suraj, Cambodian deputy prime minister Hor Namhong, assistant prime minister Sochinda and business minister Pan Souza; during Vientiane Conference of Boao Forum for Asia, President Li Yong met with and had candid exchanges with Lao prime minister Tong Lun, deputy prime minister Song di Lundi, trade and industry minister Kamani Penshner and energy and mining minister Kman-ni Intara and other current political leaders respectively. In addition, President Li Yong also visited Chinese ambassador to Cambodia Xiong Bo and Chinese ambassador to Laos Wang Wentian.
